Modistech started OLED business in 2001 and currently focuses on flexible OLED surface lighting development. Modistech is the only company in Korea that develops flexible OLED surface lighting and is the supplier for manufacturers of various interior lighting, indirect lighting and special lighting products and related lighting products in and outside the country. Modistech seeks very thin, light flexible OLED surface lighting under the slogan, ‘paper-like, fabric-like and film-like’, changing the paradigm of lighting from ‘to install’ to ‘to attach’.

The company is currently developing color optimization for white/orange/red in order to commercialize applications for desk lamps and car exterior/interior lighting. Indirect lighting doesn’t require high luminance therefore is suitable for flexible OLED for buildings and interior including indoor furniture, kitchenware and lighting in airplanes. Especially car interior lighting includes over 12 types of lamps with various possible applications for make up light, glove box light, foot light and trunk light. OLED lighting is softer than LED lighting and its mild color close to natural color causes less glaring, hence less eye fatigue, for which it is considered potential next generation lighting.

Core technologies of Modistech’s flexible OLED lighting include minimization of the number of substrate processes, roll-to-roll deposition, self-developed encapsulation material and development of the process that reduces manufacturing cost by utilizing the abovementioned technologies. It is an innovative method that reduces glass manufacturing cost up to 1/10.

The company will develop commercialization for 150x150mm flexible OLED indirect lighting in 2010.
